Stanford Remains Top Team

NEW YORK, NY—The second Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches’ Poll of the fall season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions II, III and the NAIA, will appear in the September 21 issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now.

Stanford remains in the number one spot, earning nine of 22 first–place votes. The Cardinal’s lead over No. 2 Alabama, however, was narrowed to just three points. Rounding out the top–five are Georgia (T–3), UCLA (T–3) and Florida (No. 5).

Florida State, ranked No. 15 in the previous coaches’ poll, has jumped into the top–ten at No. 8 after winning the Inverness Intercollegiate. It was the Seminoles first team win since the spring of 1998. Michigan State (No. 24) is the lone team to move into the top–25. The Spartans finished second at the Inverness Intercollegiate and seventh at the Gopher Invitational.
