AMERICA’S 100 GREATEST (page 121)

The 2009 ranking of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses is ready to be revealed. Established in 1966, this biennial list is considered the leading symbol of golf–course excellence. The latest version welcomes eight new courses to the list and crowns a new No. 1 course in America.

TIDA IN THAILAND (page 150)

Tida Woods, better known as Tiger’s Mom, keeps her personal life private, avoiding most publicity during the years of her son’s rise to stardom. But on her most recent trip to her native Thailand, Tida invited a small group to join her, including Golf Digest senior writer Jaime Diaz and senior photographer Dom Furore. During the week–long journey that included lessons in Thai history, visiting schools and riding elephants, it quickly became apparent that to truly understand the world’s No. 1 golfer, you have to know his mom first.

HOT LIST — GOLF BALLS (page 71)

Choosing the right golf ball is just as important to game–improvement as choosing the right clubs, so this year Golf Digest dedicated a separate Hot List to helping you find the right ball for your game. In addition to robot and air–cannon testing, a panel of 22 players was assembled to hit hundreds of balls. With this research, along with the input of retailers and scientists, 28 balls were determined to be the best available. Now it’s your turn to find the one for you.

THE FINAL FOUR — U.S. OPEN CHALLENGE (page 146)

Back in December we asked you to send in a six–word essay on why you thought you should be the one to represent the average American golfer in the second Golf Digest U.S. Open Challenge. Even at only six words each, 73,581 essays is still a lot of reading. But the editors managed to narrow down the field to four and this month it’s up to you to decide who should play Bethpage Black under U.S. Open conditions with three celebrities in front of NBC’s cameras. Click here to cast your vote and have the chance to win a number of great prizes.

25 QUESTIONS WITH SERGIO (page 66)

Sergio Garcia, ranked No. 2 in the world at the start of ’09, isn’t usually out of the spotlight for very long, but it’s been a while since anyone has heard from him. This month the Golf Channel’s Rich Lerner caught up with the Spaniard to find out what he’s been up to since the Ryder Cup.
