GOLF DIGEST PUBLICATIONS NAMES JOHN MARVEL MANAGING EDITOR OF GOLF DIGEST DIGITAL PROPERTIES
NEW YORK—John Marvel has been named Managing Editor of Golf Digest Digital Properties, effective September 22. The announcement was made today by Jerry Tarde, Chairman and Editorial Director of Golf Digest Publications. Mr. Marvel will be responsible for overseeing the editorial direction of GolfDigest.com and GolfWorld.com.
“John brings with him an extensive background in sports journalism and an outstanding knowledge of the online media landscape,” said Mr. Tarde. “We are excited to have him at the helm of GolfDigest.com and are looking forward to implementing significant changes and investments as we expand our digital properties.”
Mr. Marvel most recently served as Senor Director/Sports Business Development and Editorial Director at MediaZone. Prior to his work at MediaZone, Mr. Marvel was Vice President/Executive Editor at ESPN.com, where he directed editorial for the web site. During his tenure, the site was honored for outstanding journalism by the Online News Association, the Webby Awards, Yahoo Internet Life and Forbes. Mr. Marvel was also instrumental in producing online–exclusive programming deals with the NFL, NHL and USGA.
Mr. Marvel attended Boston University and Metropolitan State College of Denver.
