October 23, 2007

FALL 2007—Golf Digest has published the third edition of its golf lifestyle publication, Golf Digest Index. From luxury golf retreats to the ultimate backyard putting green to stylish clothing and accessories, Golf Digest Index covers all the things that comprise the golf lifestyle lived at its highest level. Golf Digest Index is limited to a distribution of 300,000 select Golf Digest subscribers.

Among the issue’s highlights:

AMERICA’S 50 BEST MODERN GOLF CLUBS page 70

Golf Digest Index debuts its inaugural ranking of the game’s leading private facilities opened between 1990 and 2005. Sand Hills G.C. in Mullen, Neb. takes the top spot on the list, earning exceptional marks from Golf Digest’s Course Ranking Panelists. In addition to the quality of golf, clubs were evaluated on the entire club experience, from lodging and the locker room to wine and food.

THE FULL JULIAN page 108

With his glory days as one of the world’s savviest investors behind him, hedge–fund pioneer Julian Robertson has set his focus on another entrepreneurial endeavor: owning more than 22,000 acres of land in New Zealand, including the country’s two best golf courses— Kauri Cliffs and Cape Kidnappers. Golf Digest Contributing Editor David Owen spent some time with Robertson in New Zealand, and his tales of the trip just might help you to decide where to take that next golf vacation.

STYLE BULLETIN page 144

The golf fashions of the 50’s and 60’s are making a comeback as designers are harkening back to the classic, chic style of yesteryear. Check out the photo spread of some of the latest looks, as well as the original images that were used as inspiration.

THE ULTIMATE BACK–YARD PUTTING GREEN page 128

What could be better than practicing your short game whenever you please from the comfort of your own back–yard? Golf Digest architecture guru Ron Whitten tells you all you need to know about setting up your personal green, including how to pick the best material for your preferred location.
