Tom Bair
Vice President/Publishing Director, Golf Digest Publications
Tom Bair is the Vice President/Publishing Director of Golf Digest Publications, which includes Golf Digest and Golf World. Bair was promoted to his current position in November 2009, after serving as the Vice President and Publisher of Golf Digest since June 2004. He started his tenure with the company in November 2001 as Associate Publisher of Golf Digest.
Under Bair’s strategic guidance, Golf Digest has aggressively embarked on brand extension campaigns including the Golf Digest U.S. Open Challenge in partnership with NBC Sports and the United States Golf Association, a biannual publication entitled ,em>Golf Digest INDEX, branded consumer products sold exclusively at Target® and 32 foreign editions. Golf Digest is the 6th largest publication in the world.
Prior to joining Golf Digest, Bair served as Associate Publisher of Men’s Health magazine, overseeing the sales force, directing sales strategies and developing marketing platforms for their advertising partners.
Bair helped the launch of Men’s Health and held several key positions at the magazine starting in 1992. He was Northwest Sales Manager, New England Manager and Ad Director. Prior to Men’s Health, Bair was the Sports Group Ad Director at Fairchild Publications, overseeing the selling for three trade journals (1990–1992). From 1988–1990, Bair was Western Manager of Field & Stream magazine.
Bair earned his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University.
