Bubba's Masters outfit and Champions Dinner menu

Bubba Watson has no problem telling us what he'll wear at the Masters. What he'll be serving at the Champions Dinner on Tuesday night, however, remains a mystery.

"If you don't feel good on the golf course it's gonna be hard to play good," says Watson, who recently started wearing Oakley apparel. "I swing it probably the fastest on tour, about 126 miles per hour with my driver, so my clothes have got to be able to move and breathe the way I want them to."

Watson received a slew of Oakley outfits at the end of 2012, then tried them all on to choose his four favorite options for the Masters.

"When I put on that iconic 'O' brand it makes me more popular," says Watson. "I'm in a sport that's considered boring, but this makes me look like a cool athlete. It makes me energetic. It makes me feel excited."

While Watson didn't have any say over the design of Oakley's current offerings, he's been working with the company on their next line and told us to look out for some "exciting twists."

A level-headed Watson says that "no matter what happens, if I win the Masters again or if I miss the cut, I'm still going to enjoy it." One of the more memorable nights of the week is the annual Champions Dinner, where everyone who's won a Green Jacket gathers over a meal chosen by the current Masters Champion.

What will Watson serve? "There's gonna be food," he said, tight-lipped. He admitted that it took him "about 30 seconds" to come up with the menu. "I went with what I wanted. I couldn't care less about the other people."

Videos of McIlroy at young age predict the future

Since Rory McIlroy's rise to golfing prominence, especially during his recent romp at the U.S. Open at Congressional, the public has been told over and over about what a nice kid he is and that he was a prodigy growing up in Northern Ireland. This video provides evidence of both:

The footage shows an adorable McIlroy, minus the long, curly hair and with far fewer freckles, as a guest on The Kelly Show in January of 1999. McIlroy hadn't even turned 10 yet, but he already showed signs that he would be a good interview and an even better player, though it takes him a few attempts to chip a whiffle golf ball off a rug and into a washing machine.

Go back a little further and there's this BBC News clip from 1998 following McIlroy's win at the Under-10 World Championship at Doral. The video opens with BBC reporter Rod Nawn saying, "Remember the swing and remember the name, for at just nine-years-old Rory McIlroy from Holywood is following in the footsteps of his golfing hero, Tiger Woods." Now that's a pretty impressive prognostication. Perhaps Mr. Nawn could share who he's picking in the 2024 Super Bowl.

Later on, McIlroy says he'd like to "become a pro and win all four majors." When asked if he'd like to win them all in the same year, he smiles and says "Yeah." A Masters meltdown may prevent him from doing that in 2011, but at 22 he's got plenty of time, and it seems the talent, to someday achieve that goal.

Also, if you notice, McIlroy, who is now outfitted by Oakley, happens to be wearing Nike shirts in both videos. The company known for its swoosh may have struck it big with Woods, but it appears it may have let the game's next star get out of its grasp.

So finally Oakley is moving forward.

The eyewear giant made a smart move signing Rory McIlroy to a clothing and eyewear deal that will really help the brand on a global basis. Rory will complement the existing relationship that Oakley has with Rickey Barnes. Having a player as marketable as McIlroy will really push Oakley's golf design team, because they still must find a clear and defined signature for the golf product.

Clearly they have accomplished this already with the eyewear and I have every hope that clothing style will follow. Speaking of which, that slit thing on the bottom of your trousers is getting pretty tired looking. Put it this way: if someone walked into your office for an interview with those slits, what kind of first impression do you think that would make?
