Big In Japan: Uniqlo hit the jackpot when it signed Adam Scott

Thrilling as Adam Scott's victory was in his native Australia, there were some very happy golf fans in Japan, too. Just days before the Masters, Tokyo-based retail giant Uniqlo (you-NEE-klo) signed on as one of Scott's sponsors. Scott wore the company's shirts, pants, belts and logo all week. Even his underwear was Uniqlo! The company produces its clothing and sells it exclusively at reasonable prices.

You can wear Uniqlo designs all the time -- on and off course -- so to me that's additional value. I've shopped at Uniqlo's spacious store in New York City's SoHo neighborhood, and the clothing is modern and very stylish. The company, with 1,200 stores worldwide, will open its seventh U.S. store, in New York, April 19. You can also shop online at uniqlo.com.

Style notes from Round Three at the Masters

On a Saturday dominated by a two-stroke penalty incurred by Tiger Woods, our Mr. Style, Marty Hackel, found plenty of other distractions on the course.

Tiger Woods made red on Sunday a common occurrence, but Saturday at Augusta seemed to be the day for everyone else to wear red or pink. Yes sir, red is really getting lots of visibility.

Is there a bad image of Fred? I think not. Even when he's wearing one of those dull Ashworth outfits.

Style notes from Round Two at The Masters

Mr. Style, Marty Hackel weighs in on a few Friday head-turners at Augusta, and attempts to explain one of Day Two's biggest conundrums.

The good news is a lot of people are asking me why adidas is scripting all of their players in the same clothing. The bad news is I have no rational explanation except that they, adidas, have drawn quite a bit of attention.

Well, at least they are allowing the players to wear their own choice of belts!

Pretty good selection for the young man from China. Patterned trousers are and excellent choice and I love the orange shirt.

Ryo Ishikawa

Ryo never ceases to amaze me with the way he puts everything together. Look at his shoe laces if you want to understand the phrase "it's all in the details." Impressive stuff.

Style notes from Round One at The Masters

Despite getting a sneak preview of what the pros would be wearing at Augusta, there were some notable exceptions that caught our Mr. Style, Marty Hackel's eye on Thursday. Here's a quick look at a few who turned his head on Day One.

Bernhard Langer

Which one is the caddie? Kind of hard to figure out why white has become so popular. Yes, I understand, it goes with everything, but gosh it's so bland.

David Lynn

Right on what I think will be one of the style themes of this years Masters, bright, almost neon colors. They make a serious and bold statement. By the way, I see this trend with the fans as well.

Lee Westwood

Confirms the bold color trend and does it well.

Matteo Manassero

Matteo looks to be in great shape and solid form. His RLX Ralph Lauren opening outfit looked great in person and on High Def TV's, which is a good thing. Wish I could say the same for this image as the red trousers do have a tendency to moire.

Jamie Donaldson

Galvin Green has a designer, Mats Lundqvist, who has a great feel for pattern and these green plaid trousers really make a great statement... and the hole in one doesn't hurt either.

Masters Style Diary: Adam Scott's new Uniqlo look

Adam Scott will be a new global ambassador for Uniqlo, a Japanese company that makes everything from clothing to shoes to shirts to pants.

I like this partnership because Uniqlo makes sportswear that you can wear on and off the course. I like the material, I like the fit. I like that it's reasonably priced, and I like that it has a clean, throwback look.
