Golf & Football: The NFL's Top Gridiron Golfers

We are at that point in the calendar when the remaining NFL teams are desperately hoping to extend their season a couple of weeks and into the Super Bowl. But that's not to say life is so bad in the off-season, especially when there is golf involved. Here we look at how some of football's best measure up when trading their cleats for soft spikes.

Trending: Don't worry Peyton, there's always golf

The fate of Peyton Manning's football career will be decided today at noon, with sources confirming the Colts--namely owner Jim Irsay--will release the former Super Bowl MVP in lieu of paying a $28M bonus to retain him. While most experts support the decision, chalking it up to the "business" of football, it's difficult to watch one of the most celebrated quarterbacks of my generation get tossed to the curb because it's good business. As ESPN's John Clayton said, the Colts might be rebuilding, but Manning made that franchise.

Related: The top gridiron golfers

But today is not about looking back, we've had nine months to do that. No, let's look to the future--as in Peyton Manning's on the links. Regardless if he's played his last season in the NFL, based on his swing, the perennial all-star has a long, fruitful golf career ahead of him. Here are three views of his golf game as of 2009, including a swing comparison with his younger brother Eli.
