Next Stop: 200 Majors
Dan Jenkins looks back at the classics
with a few of his own
-
2001 U.S. Open | Southern Hills
- The big news in Tulsa was that Tiger Woods lost a major championship. Golf is dead.
-
2006 U.S. Open | Winged Foot
- Bury my laptop at Wounded Foot. Sorry. Make that Winged Foot, and put it next to Phil Mickelson. The U.S. Open was grim from start to finish, and Mickelson will be saying, "I am such an idiot" for months, if not years to come for giving away this Open with the worst driving exhibition since the Greyhound bus ran into Ben Hogan.

2008 U.S. Open | Torrey Pines
It's not easy to write about the U.S. Open with this bad knee.
Not that it hurts as bad as Tiger Woods' knee.
Someone asked Tiger if he thought his performance ranked up there with Ben Hogan's comeback at Merion in 1950.
With a look, Tiger said, "Hogan didn't know if he was even going to walk again, much less play golf."
Couldn't have said it better myself.
