Pop and Point

It's easy to get overwhelmed by the idea of swinging to certain positions. The swing is a dynamic movement, not a collection of static parts. Instead of thinking about where you want the clubhead to be, focus on the movement you want to make. Take a wedge and practice smaller, three-quarter swings.

At the beginning of the downswing, load the club with an aggressive wrist cock (1). As you swing down to the ball, feel your right wrist uncock through impact (the "pop"). After impact, hold a low finish, with your arms extended (2) and the club pointing down the target line (the "point"). Both wrists should be flat on top--don't let your left wrist break down and bend back.
