Captain's Corner

Paul Azinger

You're always positive, but it's our job in the media to be half empty. So, if Europe continues to beat the Americans, could the Ryder Cup lose its appeal in the United States?

I suppose the public could lose interest if it's not competitive. As long as Tiger is around, people will care. But beyond that, I don't see the Ryder Cup ever going away. There is nothing to replace it. Not the Presidents Cup and certainly not the Olympics. There's a push for golf in the Olympics now, but we have "world" competition all year long. The Olympic thing, it's ridiculous. I don't get it. What's the point?
