LPGA players bring hope to Rwanda

For 100 days in 1994, Rwanda, a tiny nation of stunning beauty in central Africa, spun hellishly out of control with extremist Hutu militias orchestrating the genocide of more than 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus. As a result of the slaughter and the AIDS pandemic, this nation of 8.4 million people has 1.3 million orphans. After LPGA Hall of Famer Betsy King visited Rwanda in 2006, she formed the charity Golf Fore Africa, which through the relief group World Vision has raised money, medicine and awareness. In October 2007, King returned with LPGA players Juli Inkster, Reilley Rankin and Katherine Hull, former player Renee Powell and teaching pro Wendy Posillico. From the urban slums of Kigali to the rural mud-hut villages of Mudasomwa, they experienced the passion of the people who are the foundation of hope.
