Although his lads got their ears boxed at Valhalla, the European Tour's executive director
showed plenty of punching power.
In his third year at the helm, the expansionist O'Grady
oversaw the circuit's debut in South Korea and India, firmed up plans to build an
international headquarters in Dubai, established his tour as an attractive late-season venue
for U.S.-based pros (see: Camilo Villegas and Anthony Kim in '09), expanded the global reach
of the Seniors and Challenge tours and generated buzz for next year's Race to Dubai. By any
reasonable measure, O'Grady became a force on golf's world stage in '08.
