The golf course -- known locally as "the Boat" -- was designed in the early 1900s by James Braid, who also designed the Kings and Queens courses at Gleneagles. Willie Auchterlonie (pictured) has been a long-time member.
Strathpeffer Spa Golf Club's designers include Willie Park Jr., who laid out the original nine in 1888, and Old Tom Morris, who expanded the course to 18 holes in 1900. The course is quirky in the extreme. View more photos of Strathpeffer Spa G.C.
