Schwab Cup: Sunday start delayed by rain

SAN FRANCISCO -- The start of Sunday's final round of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship has been delayed about an hour because of rain that began overnight and has continued this morning.

The first pairing of Tom Watson and Mark Calcavecchia, slated to tee off at 9:45 a.m. PST, is scheduled to start at 10:48 a.m. PST. The forecast for the Bay Area shows a window of less rain between noon and 3 p.m.

Because of spotty conditions in the fairways at TPC Harding Park, the 30-man field has been playing lift, clean and place for the first three rounds.

UPDATE: Play has resumed, John Cook opening a one-stroke lead over Michael Allen early in the round.
