VERONA, N.Y. -- Bill Lunde shot a final-round 66 to hold off J.J. Henry by one shot and pick up his first career PGA Tour title at the Turning Stone Resort Championship.
Beginning the round four shots behind Alex Cejka, Lunde shot a 30 on the front nine at Atunyote Golf Club to take the lead. His birdie on the par-3 16th hole proved to be the difference over Henry, who had shot a course-record-tying 63 hours earlier.
"I've done media stuff, but obviously this is a lot more and a different subject," Lunde said. "Usually I'm talking about, you got off to a great start, what do you have to do to stay in there for the weekend and that type of thing, so sitting up here talking about winning a golf tournament is a little surreal."
Cejka shot 72 to finish in a third-place tie. He remains winless on the PGA Tour in 228 starts.
Lunde is in his second full season on the PGA Tour. He has one victory on the Nationwide Tour and was captain of UNLV's NCAA championship team in 1998.
He opened with a 73 on Thursday (the highest first-round score for a winner this year on the PGA Tour), but made the cut and got into contention with a 64 on Saturday. He is the 12th first-time winner on the PGA Tour in 2010.
