Vijay withdraws from Transitions Championship

Vijay Singh has withdrawn from the Transitions Championship due to a bad back.

Singh has been plagued by back problems, but he has felt healthy of late with strong finishes at the Honda Classic (T-4) and the WGC-CA Championship (T-11) the past two weeks. Following his performance at the Honda, his best finish in 19 months, Singh was quoted as saying, "I feel good. No more pain in my leg, my knee. No more back pains. I think it came from my knee. I'm feeling healthy, I feel good, I'm ready to go."

Singh, who recently turned 47, pulled out of the event before he teed off on Thursday. There is no word yet on how long he'll be sidelined.
