The best thing to happen to the LPGA in 2009

News that the ShopRite Classic is returning to the LPGA schedule in 2010 is a reminder that Michelle Wie's victory in the Lorena Ochoa Invitational on Sunday doesn't necessarily have a lock on the best thing to happen to the LPGA in 2009.

Recall that in 2006 then-LPGA Commissioner Carolyn Bivens gave away the ShopRite's annual June date to Bobby Ginn for the Ginn Tribute that no longer exists. ShopRite then chose to end its association with the LPGA after a 21-year run.

The ouster of Bivens earlier this year is formidable competition for Wie.
