LPGA players jumping off a cliff

LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Eight LPGA players and their acting commissioner are scheduled to try paragliding from the Torrey Pines Gliderport adjacent to the 12th hole of the South Course at Torrey Pines this afternoon, provided the wind is strong enough.

Brittany Lincicome, Kristy McPherson, Angela Stanford, Paul Creamer, Sophie Gustafson, Jijay Shin, Karrie Webb and Juli Inkter, as well as acting commissioner Marty Evans have all signed up to take the plunge following the conclusion of the third round of the Samsung World Championship.

They don't actually jump from the cliff, incidentally; they're airborne before they reach the end of the cliff. Nonetheless, they'll be soaring on the updrafts created from the ocean breeze hitting the cliffs.

The Gliderport offers tandem flights, so presumably all will be accompanied by an instructor.
