Daly news

John Daly has torn cartilage in his rib cage, he has reported on Twitter, an injury he traces to March of 2007, when he hurt it attempting to stop his swing after hearing a camera click.

"I'm hoping for a quick recovery but the pain is painful as can be which my doc says is worse than a broken bone," he said on Twitter.

He also said he had stem cell surgery last Friday, though he did not elaborate.

Daly was next scheduled to play in the Austrian Open next week, but has withdrawn.
