Verplank favored to win 2014 U.S. Senior Open

The United States Golf Association announced today that Oak Tree National (formerly Oak Tree Golf Club)in Edmond, Okla., will host the U.S. Senior Open in 2014, just in time for Scott Verplank to make his Champions Tour debut.

Verplank, who turns 50 on July 9, 2014 (probably within three weeks of the Senior Open), lives at Oak Tree (adjacent to the 16th hole), is a member there, and won the U.S. Amateur there in 1984. This qualifies as having your stars aligned.
