The Local Knowlege

Quiros or Holmes, who's longer?

AKRON, Ohio -- Their length is prodigious and borderline legendary, so who's longer, Spain's Alvaro Quiros or J.B. Holmes? They were paired together in the first two rounds of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, and the verdict is...

"If I have to be honest, the same probably," Quiros said. "I think, honestly, if we hit good shots, both, which is something difficult and very strange, we are very close. Two or three times I hit a very good driver and he goes over me about 15 meters, but I didn't hit it well. And the opposite situation, too."

Quiros, incidentally, hit a 5-wood second shot over the green at the 667-yard par-5 16th hole on Friday.

"It was a difficult situation, downhill lie, left to right wind, the flag was on the left side, but I hit the 5-wood over the green in the bunker. But I made a good recovery shot and I made birdie."
