Monty's 'inexorable descent into golfing irrelevance'

Lawrence Donegan, on his Guardian blog, recounts how he once wrote that Darren Clarke had "embarked on an inexorable descent into golfing irrelevance," only to have been proven wrong when Clarke won the BMW Asian Open in April of 2008.

Now, Donegan wonders, after taking note of Colin Montgomerie's steep decline, whether he should similarly write that Monty has embarked on an inexorable descent into golfing irrelevance. His conclusion: "The problem with that bold prediction, I fear, is that he may already have reached his destination."
