Course record for Weir

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. -- Todd Hamilton? Ricky Barnes? Next thing you're going to say is that David Duval is on the leader board at Bethpage Black.

Wait, he is?

It's been that kind of day at a rain-softened Bethpage Black, and no one took greater advantage than Mike Weir, whose six-under par 64 gave him the par-70 course record here at the Black. But it is not the first 64. That distinction belongs to Craig Thomas, the head pro at Metropolis Country Club in White Plains, N.Y., who posted 64 here during the 2007 New York State Open.

The one difference is that the Black during that tournament played as a par-71, with the club pros playing the dogleg right seventh hole as a par-5, as opposed to a 525-yard par-4 this week.
