Golf Digest fashion director Marty Hackel weighs in:
Clear days are great for the style guy as we can see what the players are wearing:
* Drew Weaver in a bright argyle Polo sweater vest not only played well but looked great. Fashion Tip: Wear one strong style item and keep everything else as simple as possible (Drew had a classic white polo shirt with a self collar -- the collar the same material as the shirt body) and basic navy cotton trousers.
* Phil Mickelson: Pretty conservative for the big guy, but grey looked better than the strong black and white statements (Phil, get that orange shirt out for the weather on Saturday). Fashion Tip: If you are big and/or have a big presence, then keeping your shirt and trousers in the same color and tone makes for a simple and clean look.
* Sergio Garcia: Having the same design motif on your hat and shirt (adidas) is a nice fresh twist. Good color on shirt as well (perfect for TV). Fashion Tip: Raglan shoulders help you look trim and fit.
* Ian Poulter: Tartan trousers in a simple black and white motif looked very strong. Fashion Tip: If you are going to create your own range of golf gear, design some great rain gear to stand out from the black and blue crew!!!
* Darren Clarke: Great hat and great red/pink belt!!!
* Ricky Fowler: Rain gear looked great (white) yesterday and please shoot low in round two as we want to see those ORANGE trousers. Fashion Tip: School colors always work.
* Boo Weekley: Speaking of Orange, Boo looked like a safety cone on the highway in his Firethorn orange camo combo look.
* Camilo Villegas: The J Lindeberg Red shirt looks solid!!
* Johan Edfors: Never looks bad in his Puma and I think that tattoo on his right arm means “power." Fashion Tip: Believe in what you wear, and Johan surely does believe in Puma. By the way Geoff Ogilvy’s white sleeveless looked great.
* Henrik Stenson: Looking great and his accessories are as good as it gets. Oakley sunglasses (Jawbones, maybe). Great white rainwear, wonder what those briefs are?
* Graeme McDowell: Classic and understated. The Lewis Copeland trousers are beautiful and everything looks together. Great belt and shoes.
Notice to all players: Lose the blue or black rainsuits.
