Mickelson back in the picture

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Two-time champion Phil Mickelson fought back after an opening-round 73 to shoot a 4-under-par 68 and is at two under for the tournament. A late starter, he made his move in Amen Corner, carding a birdie at the par-3 12th and an eagle at the par-5 13th. He added birdies at the par-5 15th and the par-4 18th to shoot 32 and is tied for 10th.

Mickelson’s improved scoring could easily be attributed to his driving accuracy. After hitting only six of 14 fairways on Thursday, he found 10 on Friday. -- Mark Soltau
