It's Friday the 13th, the most superstitious of any day of the year (although you could argue last Saturday's 07/07/07 for this year). Whatever the case, it brings to mind an article our John Hawkins wrote several years ago about golf's lucky charms. Among the superstitions he noted:
On the last point, Tiger of course claims he's not superstitious, that it's simply part of his weekly attire. But as one caddie pointed out about superstitions: "Some guys say they don't have 'em because they don't know they've got 'em because they've had 'em for so long."
Of course, that quote sounds a lot like the famous psychobabble observation from former major leaguer Mickey Rivers: "I don't get upset over things I can control, because if I can control them there's no sense in getting upset. And I don't get upset over things I can't control, because if I can't control them there's no sense in getting upset."
Somewhere in there, sense is being made. We think.
So let's hear from you. Do you have any superstitions when it comes to golf?
