Nice, in-depth interview that Paul Kimmage of The Sunday Times of London had with three-time British Open winner Nick Faldo. The 2008 European Ryder Cup captain reflected on his career, his personal life (his parents have been married 60 years, while Faldo himself has gone through three divorces) and the popularity he has gained -- especially in America -- since climbing into the broadcasting booth.
On the latter point, Faldo noted about the impact of television in the States: "I remember walking down a street in New York and four out of five guys either said, 'Hi Nick' or nudged their mate. The funniest was when I walked into a Wal-Mart with four old ladies and they all came over and said, 'Watched you on the golf.' And you think, 'Wow!' So it's very powerful."
Unfortunately, Kimmage didn't ask the obvious follow-up question: What the heck was Faldo doing in a Wal-Mart?
After all, he seems like more of a Target guy.
