The 20-year-old sophomore entered the final round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate eight strokes off the lead, but with a final-round 67 at English Turn G&CC in New Orleans, she became just the fifth Buffalo golfer to win an individual title.
"I didn't know I was in contention," said Stewart, who finished the tournament with a five-under 211, one stroke better than Oregon's Cassy Isagawa. "I was eight down headed into the round and pretty much plying for second and trying to get as low as possible for the team."
A transfer from Purdue this summer, Stewart made seven birdies in the final round en route to her second top-five finish of the season. Her performance also helped the Buffaloes finish second in the team competition, three strokes back of Duke.

Honorable mention:
Stephanie Meadow, Alabama
For the fifth time in her career, the sophomore won an individual title, shooting a five-under 137 at the rain-shortened Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head as the Crimson Tide cruised to the team title.

The junior from Sweden went 3-0 at the Del Walker Match Play Championship, helping the Bruins take the team title at Virginia CC in Long Beach, Calif. A 4-and-3 defeat of Long Beach State's Philip Chian was followed by a 2-up triumph over Oregon State's Jonnie Motomochi. Then in the championship match against Washington, Widegren took out Larry Iverson III, 5 and 4, as the Bruins defeated Washington 3-2.

Honorable mention
Ethan Tracy, Arkansas
A final-round 68 from the senior allowed the Razorbacks to pass UCF in the final round of the John Hayt Collegiate and claim their school-record fifth team title of the season.

Wesley Bryan, South Carolina
A seven-under 209 at the CC of Landfall Nicklaus course in Wilmington, N.C., gave him the victory at the Seahawk Invitational, the second career title for the senior.
