Palmer Cup teams named

None of the eight golfers named to the U.S. Palmer Cup team have experience in the annual event pitting American men’s college players versus their European counterparts. Still U.S. coach Chris Zambri should be excited about the talent on his rosters in preparation for the three-day event at Royal Portrush GC June 24-26.

The team includes: Tyson Alexander (Florida), John Chin (UC Irvine), David Chung (Stanford), Dustin Garza (Wichita State), Russell Henley (Georgia), Daniel Miernicki (Oregon), Corey Nagy (Charlotte) and Jonathan Randolph (Mississippi). Among the group, they have won a combined 19 college events in the 2009-10.

Two European players, Henrik Norlander (Augusta State) and Andrea Pavan (Texas A&M) return from last year’s squad that beat the U.S. 13-11 at Cherry Hills CC. Joining them are James Byrne (Arizona State), Rhys Enoch (East Tennessee State), Jesper Kennegard (Arizona State), David Lingmerth (Arkansas), Patrick Spraggs (Stirling) and Pontus Widegren (UCLA).
