It is folly, perhaps, to continue the perennial exercise of attempting to identify a suitable sparring partner for Tiger Woods, but here we go again. Kim, on record as eyeing Woods' No. 1 world ranking, hinted strongly in 2008 that he has the potential to impede Woods' assault on history, if not stop it. Only 23, Kim won two tournaments, the Wachovia Championship and Woods' own AT&T National, against formidable fields (albeit none with Woods playing). To boot, he played a starring role in the Ryder Cup, including a 5-and-4 triumph over Sergio Garcia in Sunday singles, setting the stage for the U.S. victory.
