He was a rock star before he was a tour star, but in 2008 Villegas' ability finally caught up to his celebrity. The 26-year-old closed his season this way: T-4 at the PGA Championship, missed cut at the Barclays, T-3 at the Deutsche Bank, won the BMW, won the Tour Championship. In September alone, he earned $2.9 million. The Colombian finished seventh on the money list and second in the FedEx Cup while beginning to deliver on the potential that was evident when he was a three-time first-team All-American at Florida.
