Swing Sequence: Tony Romo

November 2009

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is a proficient-enough golfer that he was ranked first in our ranking of the Top 150 Athlete Golfers in November 2009. He will partner with Tiger Woods in this week's AT&T National Pebble Beach Pro-Am. "He's a hell of a golfer to begin with," Woods said. "He's a scratch golfer. To him this is like a dream come true for him to come out and play in this type of event." Romo has made a number of close-call attempts at qualifying for the U.S. Open; and he shot 84 in the inaugural Golf Digest U.S. Open Challenge at Torrey Pines in 2008. "For me, hitting a solid drive is all about extension," Romo told Golf Digest in 2009. "When I extend my hands and arms away from my body in the backswing, I usually hit it pretty well."
