Folks who work at equipment companies are fond of saying: "When one of our players wins, we feel like we won." That was certainly the case at Callaway's Carlsbad, Calif., headquarters last Wednesday. After calling CEO Chip Brewer that morning, Phil Mickelson and the claret jug arrived to a throng of employees in the lobby. Mickelson passed the British Open trophy around and encouraged people to take photos with it before he fielded questions and visited the R&D department.
Speaking about his X Hot 3Deep fairway wood, Mickelson said, "I was able to hit shots that no one else out there was able to hit." Much like his final-round 66 at Muirfield, it was a day employees won't forget.
