The Ryder Cup is golf's greatest pressure cooker and as such, the players will take every bit of familiarity they can get. One of those areas is their equipment. For while they may have new, snazzy Ryder Cup staff bags and headcovers, the clubs housed in them have been, for the most part, battle tested over the season.
There are, however, exceptions. Lee Westwood put a pair of Ping Anser fairway woods in play for the first time at Medinah and Martin Kaymer, perhaps seeking some good karma, put the same Ping Karsten Anser 2 putter that he won the 2010 PGA Championship with in the bag. Kaymer was credited with holing the putt that clinched the cup for the European team, but fact is, nearly every shot counted.
