BOMB: Sorry folks, I know it’s been a while since you’ve heard from us. And even now, you're only hearing from one of us. That's because my partner Gouge is somewhere in the Atlantic/Caribbean on a Disney Cruise with his family. What drove my partner out to sea? It wasn’t his kid’s desire to see Mickey. And although he may have felt like being on this cruise instead, the real reason for our hiatus and Mike Stachura being lost at sea is that the four editors that regularly cover equipment for the Golf Digest Publications just finished putting to bed the fourth annual Golf Digest Hot List rankings of golf equipment.
What made the list? Sorry, can’t tell you that just yet. You’ll have to wait for the February 2007 issue along with the rest of the 1.6 million subscribers of Golf Digest. But I can tell you we have spent much of the past year and almost all of the last two months diligently researching any tidbit of information that would aid us in our deliberations.
In all we considered 1,523 clubs and balls when you take into account all the lofts, shaft flexes, etc. In all, a total of 505 products from 82 manufacturers were considered for this year’s Hot List. Of course, after looking at all that equipment, you might be ready for a cruise yourself.
