Eco-friendly products are slowly (and quietly) making their way on course

July 11, 2008
There's a small, low-key movement among golf companies to stock pro shops with products made from sustainable, recycled materials. One golf shirt may not save the planet, but together this group is making tiny steps that could make a difference.

1. Imperial Headwear

Made from organic cotton/bamboo with fittings of recycled metal alloy and plastics. ($26, imperialheadwear.com)

2. Lija by Linda Hipp

Sleeveless polo in sustainable bamboo. ($70, lijastyle.com)

3. Ashworth Organics

Classic polo gets an eco-makeover in organic cotton. ($59.50, ashworthinc.com)

4. Greg Norman Collection

Plastic bottles recycled into performance polyester. ($65, gregnormancollection.com)

5. Hi-Tec

Shoes are constructed from recyclable, sustainable materials, such as rice husks, and naturally treated, waterproof leather. ($139.95, hi-tec.com)

6. Tehama Green

A new hybrid: men’s shorts in organic cotton and recycled plastic polyester. ($68, tehamainc.com)
