Style Tuesday: Kick the end-of-summer blues

It's official: summer is over. No matter how old I get, early September always feels like back-to-school time--the end of fun is just around the corner and things are about to get serious.

The upside is that fall days are crisp and sunny, perfect for golf outings. Just indulge in some back-to-school shopping and arm yourself with a great piece of outerwear. Here's a check list to help you find a great jacket for this time of year:

1. Go high-tech.
Since you never know when the weather will turn, it's best to make sure your jacket performs well under most fall conditions. Make sure to select a style that offers at least one of these bells and whistles: a moisture-wicking fabric, wind-resistance, and stretch for ease of movement. More than likely you'll find a jacket that has all of the above.

2. Look for a jacket with contrast trim or details. Basically, this mean that the zipper or some other part of the jacket's detailing comes in a different color than the jacket. This is the perfect way to look slimmer in a piece of clothing that is generally bigger.

3. Make sure it's versatile. To get the most bang for your buck, pick a jacket that you can wear on and off the course.

Here are some of my favorites for fall 2011:
