Trump International Golf Links in Scotland

March 2012
Donald Trump speaks in superlatives to the point that you can become numb to the patter, but when he calls his new golf course in Scotland "tremendous," these photos support his case. Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire, designed by Martin Hawtree, will open to the public as a daily-fee course "right around July 1," Trump tells Travel Editor Matt Ginella (read more on Ginella's conversation with Trump), amid "the largest dunes anywhere in the world." (There's another superlative.) Trump admits it was "slightly difficult to get approval" for the project, a years-long process. "We were being sued by everybody," he says but adds, "We left the dunes totally as they were." Trump has made no secret of his desire to bring a U.S. or British Open to one of his courses, but he thinks his new place might attract a Ryder Cup first.
