Why We Love Golf: A Photo Essay

We asked readers for photos displaying their affection for golf. Here's how they answered

September 2011

Why do you love golf? Ask a golfer to reply with a photo, as we did recently, you get all kinds of wonderful answers. We love golf because of the challenge; because of the setting; because golf transports us. But mostly because of the people we share it with.

The reader and staff photos we picked for our inaugural "Why I Love Golf" feature ranged from glossy to grainy, from poetic to sophomoric. But they all were effective in relaying an indelible affection for the game. If there's a photo of yours that reflects your love of golf, e-mail it to us at photos@golfdigest.com, and it could be featured online, on our Facebook page, and possibly in the pages of Golf Digest.

Kingsbarns
This photo was taken on a recent golf vacation to Scotland. I am just lining up my pitch onto the 18th green at Kingsbarns. Note the two rainbows in the background. The photo was taken by a friend, Cosmo Santullo.
