My sport psychologist, Chris Dorris, and I set my goals high at the start of the season. We wanted two wins, not just one. So far I have a second and third. Making the top 50 in the world got me in major championships. I want to stay there [Quinney had fallen to 56th as of early August].

PART-TIMER

I didn't really focus on golf until my sophomore or junior year in high school. I played four years of basketball in high school. Growing up in Oregon, I couldn't play golf in the winter. So I didn't touch a club from October until March.

CASEY AT THE RANGE

I played a lot of golf in the summer with Casey Martin at Eugene Country Club. He was so good back then. I learned from his practice habits; he'd be out there all day hitting balls or chipping and putting.

ARIZONA CONNECTION

I attended ASU and live in Scottsdale. I have a sponsorship deal with the Phoenix Coyotes and have gotten to know [coach] Wayne Gretzky. I played with Wayne once, and he took me for some money. He shot 39 on the back nine. A lot of strokes. Good player. Can't putt, but he can hit it.
