Interviewed By Mark Soltau
Photos By J.D. Cuban July 2008 - I don't reflect on what I did there in 1998 (a pitch-in at the 72nd hole to finish tied for fourth in the British Open as a 17-year-old amateur). It's another life ago. In a lot of ways, it became a big distraction, so I guess I had to forget it and get on with my career and my life. I was known for it for so long that it became a bit of a negative, which is a shame.

BUILDING BLOCKS
- I think I might have been an architect if not for golf. I never studied that at school, but I built a house in Orlando and really enjoyed that whole process.

SUCCESSFUL TRANSPLANT
- Though I think it's important for me to keep my ties and to play my minimum on the European tour, I definitely like the life on the PGA Tour. I think every tournament feels like a big, staged event. It's a very easy tour to play; everything is done for us out here. There's no jet lag. It's a really easy place to come and train.

WITH AN EXCEPTION OR TWO
- I miss a good bacon sandwich. And a good Indian curry. And tea -- you guys are useless making English Tea.

STAYING ON LINE
- I've used these orange sticks (they look like driveway markers) for alignment practice quite religiously for the last two years.

9s ARE WILD
- My lucky number 99 is on my TaylorMade TP Red LDP. I switched to this ball for its spin control.
