Tenuous times

In 2002, I lost my Nationwide Tour card and was bouncing around on the mini-tours not playing all that well. The only loan I ever got was a check from my mom for eight grand. I knew then if I didn't start making profits, I was done. I won my first tournament on the Gateway Tour and paid my mom back the next week, which was cool.

Attention to detail

The only thing I'm picky about is my grips. I need three wraps of tape low on the grip for my right hand and two wraps for my left. Whenever my clubs get re-gripped, I stand there and make sure they get put on straight.

On the road

I'm usually traveling a minimum of four weeks at a time. I don't like just sitting in a hotel room, so the Mondays and Tuesdays before a tournament I usually grab dinner and drinks with friends. All in all, a lot of the players out here keep to themselves.

Recharging the batteries

If I'm at home in Vegas, you'll probably find me on the couch. If I'm in San Diego, where my parents and girlfriend live, it's either the beach or inviting buddies over for a barbecue and some beers.

Drivers

My driver is an 8.5-degree Titleist 905R bent to 10 degrees. The UST Proforce V2 graphite shaft is 44 1/2 inches. I used to play steel, so I like a heavy swingweight of D-5.
