Worst of the best
The not-so-great holes on America's 100 Greatest
December 2008

7
-
The Olympic Club (Lake) (23)
- San Francisco
- Par-4 seventh / The triple-level green doesn't match anything else on the course.

8
-
Pebble Beach G. Links (6)
- Pebble Beach
- Par-5 second / Short (502 yards) and drab: The ocean is at your back, and traffic is the scenery. A look back: Tony Jacklin hits out of the sand on the second hole of Pebble Beach at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (1994).
9
-
Scioto C.C. (58)
- Columbus, Ohio
- Par-5 eighth / A blind second shot to a green surrounded by a moat. Even Jack Nicklaus, who grew up on the course, hates it.

10
-
Whistling Straits (Straits) (24)
- Whistling Straits (Straits) (24)
- Par-5 fifth / A flat, double dogleg around water hazards. Totally out of place on a links.
