"The sun wasn't up, and there's no golf shop, so my buddy, Nick Corjon, and I put $5 in an honor box and played nine holes in one hour. First time I had ever seen sand greens."

Point Rock G.C., Elkhart, Kan. ($23, nine holes, score: 36)
"Paparazzi in Kansas? A newspaper reporter was tipped off that we were coming and got a few quotes and pictures from us. The golf course is really well maintained. Had the look of an oasis in the high desert."
