Boo Weekley has a refreshing take on the seriousness of golf

HAVEN, Wis. -- At times, golf is discussed in the same somber, austere tones usually saved for topics like politics, religion or war. In a sport that holds itself in a high regard, a tad of levity can be a welcomed sight.

Boo Weekley delivered such a sentiment after his Saturday round at Whistling Straits, one that saw the 42-year-old fire a seven-under 65.

Weekley, who's been off the grid when it comes to majors (his last top-10 finish came in 2007), was asked about the mental state of his game, and how he was going to stay focused and carry over today's success to make a Sunday charge.

The reporter crafted the question for a, "I'm just going to battle and try my best" type response. Instead, he got Boo being Boo:

"I'm going to go fishing this afternoon," replied Weekley. "I don't know, it's just golf. They can't kill ya and eat you out here.

"If you play good, you play good. If you play bad, you play bad. You just go to the next tournament and hope that you learn from your mistakes."
