Betting odds for the 2016 Masters are already out, and you can probably guess who the favorites are
Yes, we have to wait 234 days until golf's next major championship, but it's not too early to bet on it.
On Monday, Jeff Sherman, the golf oddsmaker at Las Vegas' Westgate Super Book, unveiled the betting lines for the 2016 Masters:
So, what do we make of it?
Not surprisingly, golf's new "big three" leads the way, although you could argue Jordan Spieth, who has won and finished T-2 in his only two trips to Augusta, should be a bigger favorite over Rory McIlroy -- especially coming off his historic season. All three seem like good bets, but anything 10/1 or less doesn't really get the juices flowing.
It's also interesting that a bomber with two green jackets (Bubba Watson) has the same odds as a bomber still stuck on zero majors (Dustin Johnson). We'll pass on both for now.
And then there's Tiger Woods. According to Sherman, Woods went off at 60-to-1 odds at the PGA, the lowest odds of his career, but he's back to 25/1 with a smaller field and his success at Augusta National. Course history seems to be driving Adam Scott's line as well. The Aussie won the 2013 Masters, but he's had a disappointing 2015 and will have to ditch his anchored putting stroke in 2016.
Hmm. Justin Rose at 25/1 is looking better and better. . .
