PGA Tour LIVE streaming service to start at Quicken Loans National

July 28, 2015

In April, the PGA Tour announced a partnership with Major League Baseball Advanced Media to create a streaming service for its events. Specifically, to showcase golf on Thursday and Friday before the afternoon television broadcasts.

The program, named PGA TOUR LIVE, it set to debut this week at the Quicken Loans National.

"PGA TOUR LIVE is an important development for golf fans, as it will bring live action to the devices they use most, while building great momentum and viewership for the ensuing broadcast coverage each weekday afternoon and into the weekend," said Tim Finchem, Commissioner of the PGA TOUR, in April.

The packaging will be relatively limited in its infancy. Viewers will only be able to follow two groups in the morning waves, albeit from their first tee shot to their final putt on the 18th.

On Thursday, Rickie Fowler will headline the launch. The 26-year-old will be playing with James Hahn and Ben Crane. The second highlighted group consists of Greenbrier Classic winner Danny Lee, K.J. Choi and John Senden.

PGA TOUR LIVE should see an uptick for Friday's viewing, as Tiger Woods will be in the marque pairing. Jimmy Walker, Justin Rose and David Lingmerth will be the other group on the slate.

The service will cost users around $5 per month. After the Quicken Loans National, five more events will stream in 2014. For the 2015 campaign, more than 30 tournaments will be available for consumption.
