Good news: Jason Day feeling better, intends to tee it up in third round

June 20, 2015

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. -- Jason Day is still searching for answers surrounding the vertigo spells that caused him to collapse toward the end of Friday's second round. But at least Day woke up Saturday morning well enough to continue his quest to capture his first major title.

According to Golf Channel's Todd Lewis, Day intends to remain in the tournament and will be on the first tee for his 1:55 starting time.

"He woke up this morning feeling much better and he's going to give it a go," Lewis said on air. "Of course this is a game-time decision. If he starts to feel poorly then he may pull out, but as of now he's going to tee it up at 1:55 p.m."

Day, who is three shots behind co-leaders Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed, collapsed while walking to the ninth green, his final hole of the day on Friday. He was down for several minutes while being tended to by medical staff, but was able to complete the hole, settling for bogey when he couldn't get up and down out of a bunker. He has reportedly contended with vertigo for several months, but after multiple examinations from doctors, still hasn't discovered its cause.
