Davis Love III as the next U.S. Ryder Cup captain is more than Twitter can handle

Ryder Cups are fertile ground for second guessing, and that's under the best of circumstances. Now factor in a U.S. side that has lost eight of its last 10, that needed to convene a task force in the wake of the latest humiliation, and that still ended up picking a retread as a captain who LOST last time around.

OK, that's a bit harsh, since it's fair to say whatever went awry at Medinah in 2012, it wasn't really Davis Love III's fault. In fact, by almost all accounts Love was an immensely popular captain who was largely victimized by factors well beyond his control.

Still, as Love's selection as captain of the next U.S. team in 2016 was reported on Monday evening, the news was met with a mixture of applause, derision, and bewilderment.
